“A football player must remain a football player even on a pontoon bridge”

Examination of the 4th round of the championship of Russia from Leonid Slutsky.

ABOUT ERRORS OF YOUTH

The last match of Spartak, among other things, showed that fans do not need to rush to extremes and talk about Fedotov’s blind faith in youth. Apparently, Vladimir Grigoryevich knows what he is doing. He worked for a long time as the club’s sports director and perfectly represents the possibilities of the really talented young players who are in Spartak. And then his life forced him to release young people. If Pavlyuchenko and Bazhenov were available, it is unlikely that Prudnikov would become the hero of the game. Football is built on this: someone gives someone a chance to prove themselves due to a whole range of reasons: on the one hand, injuries to leading players, on the other - faith in their pupils. Thanks to such a combination of factors, football rewards Fedotov for putting on youth. But young football players have a noticeable minus - instability. Sooner or later this is manifested. Remember how many praises Juba sang? But he failed the game with Ray. And the talented army team Taranov and Grigoryev did not play very well against Khimki and were alternately replaced. Moreover, in previous matches they were useful. Young can swim psychologically and make mistakes during the game. They do not yet have guaranteed skill - especially for defense players.

ABOUT SPARTAKOVSKY EMO

Teams that played cup matches in the middle of the week, functionally looked not the best way against rivals. This applies to “Moscow”, and “Spartacus”, and “Wings”, which in the second half of the game with “Saturn” is not moving so well. The only exceptions are Dynamo and Lokomotiv, who also met in the Cup, and therefore were in the same conditions. In the case of Spartak, the cup matches were reflected not only in the functional, but also in the emotional state of the team. It is one thing to hold two games in a row at Petrovsky against Zenit, and another is a match with Luch-Energiya.

About the Inconvenient Kuban

To be honest, I was anxiously waiting for a match of my club against Kuban. The Krasnodar team seems to be famous for high-speed players, that is, it is not a very convenient opponent, given that we were not in the best condition after the cup game. But it turned out that we completely controlled the territory, although in the end, of course, there was not enough freshness and ingenuity. After scoring, the main task was to maintain this advantage. Nevertheless, in our functional state, it would be unreasonable to strive to double it at any cost. And we quite easily managed to keep a shaky score. I think that on Monday in all sports newspapers they will write that the number of scoring chances at our goal was zero.

ABOUT FIELD FACTOR

The quality of the field greatly affects the game and the result. And, by the way, it increases the risk of injury. They have been talking about this for a long time: we buy football players for millions of dollars and we cannot spend much smaller amounts on good lawns. Field is a tool. For the player, the quality of the lawn is as important as, say, a car brand for the driver. But still a bad field only limits the player’s capabilities, but does not kill them. For example, the quality of the field rarely affects my choice of starting composition. I think that if a person is a football player, then he should stay on the pontoon bridge and in the hockey box. However, to show their qualities in less acceptable conditions is much more difficult. I do not think that because of the notorious spring football in the last round, too many unexpected results happened. The reason is only in the fairly high level of clubs in our championship. Well, what prevented Spartak from defeating Luch on an artificial turf, to which the Spartacists are accustomed? What prevented the defeat of “Zenith”, which also played against “Amkar” on the synthetic surface? Not the quality of the fields! Of course, there is a difference in skill between the leaders and the middle peasants of the Premier League, but it is not so global that without tension it can be implemented in good fields, and even worse in bad ones.
