Sebastian finish

Sebastian Dysler announced the completion of a player’s career. He decided to drastically change his life at the age of 27. “Sport Today” is looking for the reasons for the early departure of one of the brightest German football players of recent years.

Das supertalent

“Savior” of German football Sebastian was nicknamed after Euro 2000. The German team was then a sight, very deplorable. Dysler was perhaps the only bright spot on the grim background of an elderly team, most of whose players were born back in the 60s.

The current leaders of the Bundesmannschaft, Lam, Schweinsteiger and Podolsky, were still in school. And, in addition to Daisler, in the entire Bundesliga there was no way to find a young promising football player with a German passport. In any case, of those around whom it seemed possible to construct the team’s game with an eye on the 2006 World Cup.

The 20-year-old Herta midfielder was the only one, and therefore received a portion of advances from the German football community that would last a whole generation. For example, Friedel Rausch, Sebastian’s first coach, predicted the future of Walter, Seeler and Beckenbauer. But at the same time, Dysler was not the messiah. This gifted footballer only because of the lack of competitors began to be positioned as gifted.

Punch in the psyche

The situation has developed, of course, ambiguous. Not everyone could withstand such pressure, but for the time being, Sebastian managed. Going to Hertha from Mönchengladbach, he played pretty well for the Berlin club in the Champions League. Basti Fantasy's career went uphill. He got the opportunity to choose where to develop his talent. There were enough options abroad, including in England and Italy. But Dysler preferred a contract with Bavaria, which transferred almost 10 million euros to Hertha's account. Sebastian intended to play in the first world championship in his life already as a player of the Munich super club ...

On May 18, 2002, the German national team held one of the last test matches before flying to Japan and Korea - with the Austrians. The result of that game has long been erased from memory. She only remembers that the main hope of Rudi Feller received a severe injury to his right knee. That disaster was the first tangible blow to the psyche of Sebastian. He was forced to miss the 2002 World Cup, which was quite successful for the Germans, and he could only make his debut in Bavaria in February 2003. Treatment and recovery lasted for as long as 9 months!

Depression

It became clear that the Bundesmannschaft could succeed without Daisler. Other young people began to declare themselves loudly: Kuranyi, Hinkel, Friedrich. All this, logically, could weaken the psychological press under which the young midfielder was located. He was no longer expected to save the football honor of his homeland. He could calmly regain his former condition and return to the previous level.

But instead, in November 2003, shocking news came. Sebastian began to be treated for depression, which, it turns out, began in his summer. The sad result of the sad turn of this story: Dysler did not get to Portugal at Euro 2004.

The treatment seemed to bear fruit. New coaches came to Bayern and the national team. They made a significant bet on Basti. Felix Magat in the 2004/2005 campaign played Dysler in 32 matches! He has not played so often in any of the previous seasons. Jürgen Klinsmann also saw in Sebastian the main player of his team: in 2005, the midfielder played for the national team 13 times! And our hero had a son, Raphael. It was possible to look into the future with optimism. Upcoming home World Cup 2006. And he had to finally convince that Dysler overcame all ailments.

Last straw

And again, the eve of the mundial, again - a friendly match, again - the long-suffering right knee ... It suffered five operations in the end! As Sebastian admitted at his farewell press conference, it was then - in March 2006 - that he first thought about ending his career. However, Hennes and Magat still persuaded the 26-year-old midfielder not to rush. Last November, we finally saw Deisler in action again. The match against Hamburg he had an excellent match. But alas ...

In mid-December, a hip injury occurred. She, although she was not too serious, pushed Sebastian to a decision announced a month later, on January 16:
“I can no longer fully trust the knee. It is not strong enough for professional football. Because of this, I can no longer play at full strength and have fun. I realized that I could not drive away the obsession about the bad that could happen again. I could still play something. But that is not what I truly desire. This will not be of benefit to me, nor, moreover, to the team. ”

Shock

It would not be an exaggeration to say that these words shocked the listeners. It could be assumed, for example, that Daisler would be leased to the team more modestly so that he calmly recruited. But just not a career finish! In any case, the contract of Sebastian, calculated until 2009, is not broken, but only suspended. Who knows, maybe after a while Dysler will find strength and determination to return? Uli Hennes assured that Bayern would welcome him with open arms.
Deisler still has a whole life ahead of him. He wants to live it without worries and depressions, the source of which has become for him in recent years, football. Even if we do not see him again on the field, he will remain in the history of the game of football one of the most talented German players at the beginning of the 21st century.

Star fate that is hindered by injuries

Christoph Metzelder (knee, back)

One of the most talented central defenders of Europe. Participated in the last two world championships. However, in the interval between them (over 4 years!) He played only 63 matches for the Dortmund Borussia. I missed the season 2003/2004 completely. In the summer, apparently, will change the club.

Vicente Rodriguez (left ankle, thigh)

A few years ago was one of the brightest winger of the continent. But he taught the Valencia bosses to have a couple more left wingers in reserve. I missed the previous two seasons almost entirely, without playing at the 2006 World Cup.

Rafael van der Warth (thigh, ankle)

Season 2001/02 missed almost completely. He moved to Hamburg in 2005, enchantingly started there, but because of a series of injuries he could not finish the season on a high note. Last fall, I stood idle again due to a hip injury.

Harry Kewell (ankle, inguinal muscles)

He moved to Liverpool in 2003, but because of a series of injuries, he has since played only 73 matches in the Premier League. In rare periods of recovery, he became the second Australian to win the Champions League, and also played at the 2006 World Cup. This season has not yet appeared on the field.

Jibril Cisse (tibia of the right leg)

In one of the first matches for Liverpool, in 2004, he received a severe double fracture. On June 7, 2006, he was supposed to go to the world championship, but again broke his leg in a friendly game against the Chinese and dropped out for six months. Not so long ago, he made his debut in the "Marseille".
