Comparing Pelitstsoli with Marco Amelia is pointless. Each goalkeeper has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, it is impossible to ignore the fact common to the biographies of both. The fact is that it was precisely the arrival of Pelizzoli in “Roma” in the summer of 2001 that crossed out Amelia’s hopes to gain a foothold in the ranks of the “Jallorossi”. 19-year-old at that time, Marco chose to go to Livorno, where he gained a reputation as one of the most talented goalkeepers in Italy, and then attracted the attention of Moscow Spartak.
And the native of Bergamo Pelizzoli for three years became the main goalkeeper of the team Fabio Capello. However, in the debut season, due to an injury, he never once played against the same Lokomotiv in the group stage of the Champions League.
Capello always sympathized with tall gate guards. Meter ninety - at least. For example, in Milan, the first number he had was a 197-centimeter Sebastiano Rossi. That's why, having tormented himself with the unstable Francesco Antonioli in the 2000/01 champion season, don Fabio turned to Franco Sensi with a request to bring the lanky goalkeeper Atalanta and the Italian youth team to Rome.
The fact that the choice of Capello fell precisely on Pelizzoli is understandable. After returning to Bergamo after a one-year trip to Triestina, Ivan made a sensation in Serie A with his native Atalanta. The wards Giovanni Vavassori unmatched the first round of the 2000/01 championship and, although they then slowed down, occupied a sensational debut for the elite division 7th place. Moreover, the current first issue of Palermo Fontana was then limited to the role of understudy Ivan. Doni, Zenoni brothers, Donati instantly received offers from Apennine mastodon clubs. Do not ignore the goalkeeper. Pelizzoli was in the camp of the champion.

In the summer of 2004, Pelizzoli turned out to be one of three players over 23 years old, whom the coach of the Italian youth team Claudio Gentile took to the Athens Olympics. The position of the first issue was considered problematic for that team. After all, at the victorious European Youth Championship ( U- 21), he did not look bad ... Marco Amelia. Pelizzoli delightfully held the Olympic Games and added the bronze of Athens to his collection.
Ironically, just then, Ivan began to have difficulties in the club. In the season 04/05, Roma managed to steer Cesare Prandelli, Rudi Feller, Luigi Del Neri and Bruno Conti. In Italy, no one had any doubt that the gifted goalkeeper resides in a team, to put it mildly, inadequate to his talent. Permanent interest in Pelitstsoli was indicated by various English, and more recently, German clubs. But, apparently, only the offer of the Moscow “Loco” can make the president of “Regina” Lillo Foti leave the main goalkeeper a day before the end of the re-application period.
If so, we will only have to watch with interest the adventures of the Italian Ivan in Russia.
