Egor Titov: “For some reason, Bazhenov has been sick all the time”

The captain of the Moscow Spartak, Yegor Titov, in an interview with Sport Today correspondent, analyzed what kind of players his team needed and said why Fernando Cavenaghi had no career in the Moscow club.

- You played one half against the Bulgarian “Levski”. During this time, the team scored a goal and generally dominated the field. What can you say about the leader of the championship of Bulgaria?

- It was noticeable that Spartak looked a cut above the class. Although the teams have different preparedness, the Bulgarians looked fresher. Our rival has been working in Israel for the third week. But “Spartak” in terms of technical and tactical actions far surpasses them. We played smarter.

- There is very little left before the game with Celta. In what form is Spartak now?

- The answer to this question will be given by meetings with stronger rivals in the same Channel One Cup. After these matches it will be possible to judge something. But in general, we still have time to prepare after the tournament in Israel. But the main problem is that many players will go to play for the teams of their countries. And it is not known which of the called footballers will really enter the field.

- A call to the national team will probably violate the team’s plans?

- And what if the whole of Europe plays on this day? Personally, it will be interesting for me to play in the Netherlands - not every day we meet with such teams. In addition, I had a very pleasant impression of the Amsterdam Arena. I will be happy to return there.

- How do you feel about the many rumors about newcomers?

- But in any way. When they say that they signed, when I see a football player, then I’ll say. In general, this is a normal situation for the off-season, when someone is selling or buying.

“But you have no newcomers.”

- Recently, it has always been so. Remember, after all, that Kovacs joined us “on the flag”. And Quincy ... This season, apparently, will be an absolutely identical situation.

- What do you say about the sale of Cavenagi?

- We have long known that he will leave. When the team was dissolved in December, he packed all his things, and that says a lot. Honestly, they did not expect him back.

- 13 million - a fair price per player?

- Yes, since we gave such an amount for him.

- What did he fail?

- A thousand times already talked about it.

- Let's do it again.

- It's about team tactics. He thought the game would be built for him. But “Spartak” is such a club that here players adjust to the team game, and not vice versa.

- But are there many attackers in the team? In fact, there is only one Pavlyuchenko.

- Of course, one is not enough. You see how Quincy plays ... We need another striker.

- Dziuba?

- He still has little experience. At this age, recessions are frequent.

- And Bazhenov?

- For some reason, Bazhenov has been sick all the time. Often.

- In short, you need a forward.

- And not one. If we want to reach the finals of the UEFA Cup, then we need two driven strikers.

- And who else?

- For my part, it would be tactless to talk about it. We are counting on everyone. We now have 26 people, including four patients. This is already too much.

- Bust?

- It is optimal to have 22 strong players who can solve the problem. This year we will have a lot of difficult games: in the championship, in the Cup and, hopefully, in the Champions League. Do not forget that we have 16 players playing in the national team. But beginners are needed. You see, it will take time to understand whether a football player is suitable for us or not. And there is not much time.
