Three intrigues

The Russian team did not make it to the semifinals of the World Volleyball Championship. However, outside the quartet of the strongest, ours have something to do. Taking into account the internal tasks of the Russians, the tournament has three interesting plots.

Attack attack

The teams from Poland and Bulgaria will meet in the first semi-final. The East European derby will be the confrontation of the two most impressive attacking schemes at the World Cup. Bulgarians pray for Dynamo Moscow player Matei Kaziyski, one of the tournament’s best strikers. Konstantinov or Nikolov can support the leader depending on the mood, but the overall success of the national team by 70 percent depends on Kaziiski. Poles, having passed all 9 matches without defeats, on the contrary, rely on team action. An excellent game of attackers Wlazhla and Swiderski is primarily the merit of the best connecting tournament of Pavel Zagumna.

The last chance for non-Europeans

The Serbian national team, the first offender of the Russian team and the current European champion, will meet with the Brazilians, who still hold the title of world champions. Traditionally, a strong attack by the Brazilian national team so far fires from one or the other cannon without showing one leader as a rival. Such multi-station construction is unlikely to benefit the South Americans in the game against the surprisingly balanced national team of Serbia. Attacks of the Slavs are based on the foundation of a confident game of team leader Nikola Grbych - largely thanks to him, striker Ivan Milkovich became an unexpected scorer. The chance of the Serbs is to counter competent defense with a safety net to the power of the Brazilian game.

A spoon of honey or a barrel of tar?

For the Russian team, the championship is still ongoing. Wards of Zoran Gayich will fight for 5-8th places, starting with a match against Italy. In case of victory, our team will be located immediately behind the four semi-finalists. However, obtaining a consolation prize will not be easy. For Italians, non-participation in the quartet of the fittest is almost a big setback than for us. They will desperately fight for the desired row in the table. The hope is that the yawning attack of our team will wake up for tomorrow's match. With the reception, we are all right. In case of defeat, Russia will roll back to anti-record lines. The worst result - 7th place - was shown in 1994. Now, two possible setbacks will lower the team to 8th. What will mean, alas, failure.
