Marat Safin: “We’ll have to get up very early, at four o’clock, because the plane is already at seven”

The final page of the online diary of a Russian tennis player, which he kept especially for the site atptour.com during the Moscow Kremlin Cup tournament.

Sunday, October 15th

So the last day of touring at home came. Now all thoughts are only about the final three weeks of the season, which will begin tomorrow at the tournament of the prestigious Masters series in Madrid. Tomorrow you will have to get up very early, at four o'clock, because already at seven the plane. It will be a very difficult day - after all, the end of the Kremlin Cup has yet to be celebrated with friends. But I don’t get used to it, this is the ordinary life of a tennis player.

I’m sitting in the locker room after a very long and difficult ending, which I lost to Nikolai Davydenko.
I will not hide, disappointed with defeat. And first of all - because I couldn’t put my thoughts in order at the right time. The most annoying thing I could win. But Nikolai played better and won deservedly. It was a great match, which, I am sure, pleased all the fans.

I heard many fans were interested in what my tattoos mean and why I made them. It is like music. We like this or that song, because it is associated with some events, pleasant or not. And with tattoos the same thing. Each of them has its own meaning, evokes memories and will remain with me forever. I do not regret that I made them, but new ones, most likely, will no longer appear.

I enjoyed talking about my life on the blog. This week was really a lot of interesting things, because a business trip to the homeland is always rich in impressions. I don’t know who will keep the next diary for atptour.com. But I hope it will be interesting. I read Tursunov's blog, and it seemed funny to me. I tried so that you wouldn’t get bored reading me. Indeed, many people know Marat Safin only as a tennis player. And so I wanted to talk about the other side of life, outside the gyms, where I have the same problems and joys that you have. Cheer for me, and I will try not to disappoint.
