In Zagreb, on the fourth day of the World Cup, the tournament of shotgun masters began. The first gold award was won by the Russian team. Alexey Alipov, Pavel Gurkin and Maxim Kosarev became the best team among 33 teams in the ladder exercise.
In bullet shooting, Russians won team medals of all virtues: “gold” from Lyubov Galkina, Tatyana Goldobina and Alena Nizkoshapskaya in shooting from a small caliber rifle from three positions from 50 meters, “silver” from Mikhail Nestruev, Sergey Polyakov, Sergey Alifirenko in shooting from standard a pistol from 25 meters, “bronze” from Irina Izmalkova, Anna Ilyina and Julia Aidenzon in shooting at a moving target from 10 meters. In the same exercise, the juniors won the team tournament, and Oksana Danilenko and Olga Stepanova stopped a step away from the “gold”, who decided the fate of second place in the shootout.
That’s where the Chinese can’t confuse cards for Russian athletes, it’s shotgun shooting. For four days of the championship, the bullet team suffered so much from the Asians that it took a breath just now. Paderina's “gold” not only brought credit points, but also became a powerful emotional stimulus.
Our rifle winners won the team tournament. But only Lyubov Galkina was able to qualify for the final part. Maybe she will finally break the chain of defeats of our Olympic heroes? Artyom Khadzhibekov, while shooting from a rifle while lying down, although he showed the best result among Russian shooters, did not reach the finals. At the same time, Hadzhibekov is in third place in the world ranking. And the rating is headed by Belarusian Sergey Martynov, who became the champion. The holder of a world record, a participant in five championships, finally received the title, which he sought for 20 years.
Alas, the third time luck passed Mikhail Nestruyev, and in the most offensive way. Fourth place and one breakaway point ... If he was more accurate, he would get a chance to participate in the shootout for second place. It was additional shots that brought Jeong Kim from the DPRK to the second step of the podium, and Thai Yakkrit Panishpatikum to the third. Out of competition was, of course, the Chinese Guohu Liu.
The only thing that the Chinese still cannot do is to shoot at skeet. In the team tournament in the ladder exercise, the Chinese team is in 22nd place. However, they did not annoy us.
Luzhe shooting range gathered 33 teams. On the eve of the training, and each athlete in his own way tried to adapt to the 40-degree heat - the complex is not equipped with protective awnings. Even before leaving for Zagreb, head coach Sergei Planovsky was sure of Alexey Alipov's great shape. In support of this, the Olympic champion scored 25, 25 and 23 and scored 73 points in total. Pavel Gurkin has the same amount of points. Maxim Kosarev has one less. The third issue - Michael Diamond - let down the Australian national team. Only one point separated her from the first place, as did the Indian team. But according to the rules of the competition, the second place went to the Australian shooters - their last series was more productive.
Success in team wrestling brought all three of our shooters to the finals. Well, if in this discipline, a trump card for Russians since the Olympics in Athens, they would have a reward. She would be a weighty argument in favor of Russian candidates in the governing bodies of the International Shooting Federation (IFSS).
Yesterday was marked not only by competitions. In Zagreb, a meeting of the Administrative Council of the IFSS was held. The last time he gathered in the current composition, since on Saturday the elections will be held in the organization. Among the applicants are seven representatives of Russia. Good chance of the president of the Shooting Union of Russia (SSR) Vladimir Lisin. He will run just in the administrative council, which consists of 11 people who determine the vector of development of shooting sports. Until now, our country has not had a representative in this highest governing body of the IFSS. “The chances of Vladimir Lisin are quite high,” says Alexander Mitrofanov, executive director of the Soviet Socialist Republic. “Russia is a leader in the shooting world of Europe, and it would be logical to have a spokesman for our interests in the international arena.”
