Yesterday, on the first day of the World Shooting Championships in Zagreb, the first medal appeared on the account of the Russian team. Vladimir Goncharov became the third in shooting from a pneumatic pistol. At the same time, the world champion in 2002 and the silver medalist of the Olympics in this exercise, Mikhail Nestruev, had excellent chances to win.
“After qualification, he was one point behind the leading Chinese athlete,” Oleg Lapkin, head coach of the national team, told Gazeta. “But closing the gap was difficult.” Michael twitched and found his shooting only at the end of the final series. " However, Nestruyev will have the opportunity to rehabilitate himself: he is declared in four more types of exercises. The total efforts of our shooters were enough to take second place in the team classification for shooting from an air pistol.
In parallel with the adult, the Junior World Cup is also held. The Russian team expects the young masters of bullet shooting to fulfill almost the same medal plan as adults: three “gold”, “silver” and “bronze”. And the young standers do hope to surpass experienced shooters. On the eve of departure, the team counted on victory in all six personal disciplines.
At shooting areas in Zagreb, youth will have to play 25 sets of awards in personal exercises, of which 19 in bullet shooting and six in the booth.
Despite the fact that last year many athletes who took leading positions not only at the European, but also at the world level left the junior team in bullet shooting due to age, its potential remains high. Confirmation of this is the results of the European Championship, held in Moscow. Most of his heroes make up the Russian team at the Zagreb World Championship.
Of course, the leader of our bullets is the 19-year-old Dmitry Romanov. At the last world championship in 2002 in Lahti, he became a winner, as well as a silver medalist. Romanov is perhaps the most experienced athlete in the team, who also has four victories in European championships. At the last European Championship, a Muscovite not only won his crown exercise - shooting at a moving target, but together with his comrades repeated the world record.
The most ambitious remains the master of sports of international class Leonid Yekimov. The shooter from Novodvinsk has repeatedly tested himself for strength at the European championships, but there was not one world. In pneumatic pistol shooting, he is already in serious competition with experienced craftsmen, but this time the coaches decided that his efforts would be more valuable for the junior team.
In a similar situation was Daria Vdovina. The young resident of Izhevsk - she is only 15 years old - at the recent Russian championship in shooting with an air rifle “shot” the eminent Lyubov Galkina and Tatyana Goldobina. She began to show consistently high results several years ago, and after such a backlog it can already be said for sure that among adults she will not be lost.
Expectations for the performance of Russian standers are also optimistic. A recent athlete, and now the head coach of the national team, Ivan Derevsky, believes that our shooters can win in all disciplines. These hopes are supported by the results of the tournaments, but, objectively speaking, there are no obvious prerequisites for a great triumph of the Russians.
Although young shotgun masters showed themselves in the international arena - which is confirmed by the respective ranks - we do not have world champions in this roster. A year ago, the junior team from the World Cup in Lonato brought the “bronze” in the exercise skete. She was conquered by Angelina Mishchuk. Angelina's teammates declared themselves only at the European championship: Albina Shakirova was the first in the monastery, Roman Dobrosotsky was the third in the ladder.
