Russian clubs will share $ 50 million

On Wednesday, Moscow announced the signing of the largest contract in the history of Russian football. The Russian Football Union (RFU) and the Russian Football Premier League (RFPL) sold the title sponsorship package to Rosgosstrakh for $ 11 million a year. Since the contract is designed for five years, its total amount will exceed $ 50 million. This money will be divided by the RFU and RFPL in the proportion of 15/85.

All the details of the new contract have not yet been disclosed, but it is obvious that Rosgosstrakh as a title partner will have a much larger volume of advertising opportunities than when this company simply acted as one of the sponsors of the Premier League. “Rosgosstrakh has already worked with the Premier League, but he wants more influence. We said: please increase the resource,” said RFU President Vitaly Mutko. “I don’t know the amount of their previous league contract - two, three or five "Million dollars a year. But now it’s giving 11 million. With this money, the company will go to all of Russian football - to all national teams, to children, to the first and second divisions and, of course, to the Premier League."

Despite the expansion of advertising opportunities, the bulk of the money will still go to clubs, that is, the Premier League. “The proportion is 15/85, as is customary throughout the world,” the Premier League Premier Yevgeny Giner specified to Izvestia. “So far, the Premier League has objectively the only product,” Mutko developed the topic. “Why do I give 85 percent to leading clubs? Because only Channel One is broadcasting them so far, that’s necessary to understand.”

There is also a national team, the rights to which belong to the RFU, and as an advertising product, it can be no less attractive. However, the contract with Rosgosstrakh suggests that the company will act as the title partner of the championship and championship of Russia. As for her relationship with the national team, there is a more modest definition: "official partner of the RFU." That is, such an option as a “title sponsor of the Russian national team” is not provided for by the contract, and this, apparently, is another reason why the money received from Rosgosstrakh will mainly go to clubs.

Vitaly Mutko told Izvestia that he would distribute the 15% that the RFU will receive under the new contract (a little more than one and a half million dollars a year) among all football structures - children's schools, regional federations, clubs 1 and 2 - th division and so on. “Maybe it will not be the money that someone is counting on, but everything is known by comparison. For some children’s tournament, and 10 thousand dollars is an impressive amount. Moreover, this is only the beginning.”

There can be only one title sponsor. And at least in the Premier League, Rosgosstrakh has already staked this position for 5 years. Despite the fact that the contract numbers are record, it is easy to calculate that per club under this agreement accounts for a little more than 500 thousand dollars a year, or the fortieth part of the budget, if you take some average numbers.

It is clear that the Premier League can find itself and other sponsors. But if the title one pays about 9 and a half million dollars a year (85% of the total annual contract amount), then the rest will pay less? The president of the Premier League, Yevgeny Giner, does not agree with this logic. “In the English Premier League, the title sponsor is Barclay Bank, but that doesn’t mean that another partner, Sky TV channel, pays less for clubs,” he explained. “Rosgosstrakh will pay as much as this product costs today, and tomorrow we will probably attract another sponsor of 20 million per year. One does not interfere with the other. "
