The famous Russian football player Alexei Smertin defended his thesis at Barnaul State Pedagogical University (BSPU). In the scientific work “Assessment of the competitive activity of football players”, he analyzed the game of his colleagues in the national team on the example of qualifying matches for the World Cup and received a rating of “good”.
According to Andrei Dolgov, supervisor of Smertin, head of the department of sports games of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University physical education department, the material for the diploma work of his ward was played by the Russian national team in the qualifying tournament for the current world championship. Recall: then her rivals were the teams of Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Portugal. By the way, it was the Portuguese who we lost with a startling score of 1: 7 - after that it is no wonder to delve into the theory. “Such works are not uncommon,” Andrei Dolgov told Izvestia. “True, the competitive activity of football players in all episodes of the game is more often investigated, and Alexey processed only those that led to the creation of scoring chances.”
According to the analysis of part-time student Smertin, it turned out that the indicators of competitive activity among Russian forwards Alexander Kerzhakov and Dmitry Sychev are almost the same. But Sychev, judging by the research, is mistaken more often. The largest number of errors was revealed by midfielder Vladimir Bystrov (62% of the marriage in tactical and technical actions). And the most effective and reliable player turned out to be ... Smertin himself, who, according to his own analysis, allowed only 18% of the marriage.
The defense of the midfielder was real. The captain of the national team was asked questions and, as a result, they put the “four” for their thesis. As Dolgov said, there were minor flaws: Smertin was worried and did not answer all the questions accurately. At the institute they say that their student is satisfied with the grade. When asked if Aleksey was going to acquaint the new coach of the Russian national team Guus Hiddink with the results of his scientific work, Andrei Dolgov answered: "Alexei has a fairly simple technique. I think Hiddink owns things more seriously."
On June 30, graduation ceremony will be held at BSPU. However, the student of Death in Barnaul may not wait. Apparently, he will be busy preparing for the Russian Cup matches: Moscow “Dynamo”, which he stands for, on July 2, meets with “Spartak” from Nizhny Novgorod.
