On the future of sharing in Russia and in the world
Why the start-up principle “Be the first, Freddie” is relevant for startups, how to save cities from permanent traffic jams, and why large companies increasingly want not to sell products, but to deliver services - the most interesting theses and thoughts in our selection. We attended the session “Schering and Platforming. Technologies extending the range of our interaction ”at the Startup Village conference and sharing theses of the speakers.
Session participants: Boris Golikov, YouDrive carsharing CEO, Alexei Gidirim, co-founder of YouDo, Pascal Xselo, IBM program director, Ozon co-founder and Alexander Egorov, head of Sberbank Alexey Denisov, Sberbank’s founder and Easy Taxi service founder, Tallis Gomez.
Schering and consumers
- The economy of sharing is a matter of trust. Are you ready to share your car with your neighbor? What exactly are you willing to share?
- The transition to the economy of sharing means that the very culture of consumption is changing.
- Consumers from generation Y like to collaborate, communicate, they love to share. Such people just need a constant internet connection. This is the way to survive.
- Sharing technology gives us the opportunity to find the right people without intermediaries, it is faster and cheaper to get the necessary services. And this concerns not only the search for narrow specialists. With the help of such services in a few clicks, you can solve the problem of replacing tires in the off-season in a fleet of 1,200 cars.
- If the service hits right on target, then cultural changes occur very quickly.
- Today, people are no longer willing to spend time searching for a better provider or seller. They need a solution right now! Previously, to find a plumber, you had to go to the search, view 10 sites, compare prices, analyze reviews ... It all took three hours. Now this problem can be solved in a minute and a half and the plumber who has arrived will still bathe so that you are satisfied. He is interested in doing his job well, because he values his reputation, which provides him with new orders.
Schering as a business
- The lack of a legislative base often helps to grow faster, since there are no restrictions. This state of affairs today helps start-ups in the field of sharing.
- The basis of the most advanced services is still software, which, in turn, is based on algorithms that can understand how to optimize a particular business model.
- Schering has been made possible by cloud computing — they are cheap, simple, and have no boundaries.
- There are two types of businesses. "Vitamins" - they can use, but they can not use. And the "painkillers" - once used, and more without it you can not.
- At Sberbank, we made a goal of building a platform. The platform is the technical basis for our future competitive advantage. We, as a financial institution, use technical infrastructure to make it easier for us to reach our customers and provide them with the services we provide.
- If a company in a small market has managed to create a working business model, then, entering many other foreign markets, it is often a more advanced player than many local competitors.
- The working hours of many employees, especially in large companies, are often used inefficiently. Sometimes utilization of the potential of people at work is below 50%. This is a potential blue ocean for business, but no specific models have yet been found.
- The future must be built according to the principle - “Bay first, Freddie”. Foreign fintech companies will come here over time, so you need to quickly enter other markets yourself.
- Schering in one form or another is already present in all areas of business, although the effect of this is still visible only in transport. But the prospects are enormous - this way allows you to quickly create new business without serious capital expenditures.
- Russia is at a good level of consumption of digital services and is developing rapidly. Users from Moscow and St. Petersburg are very quickly drawn into new topics. In the three years since the advent of car sharing, Moscow has already surpassed any European city in the number of cars in parks and in the number of users.
- Big business increasingly prefers not to sell goods, but to provide services. For example, the company Michelin decided to provide tires for aircraft for rent. This is beneficial for customers, because instead of kapeks it can be attributed to Opeks - operating expenses.
Schering and other industries
- In Sberbank, the last five years there has been a permanent discussion on how to get out of the role of solely a provider of financial services and which markets to enter. There are three basic sectors in which we are interested in moving - Ecommerce, “Medicine” and interaction with the state in automating access to various government services, both for individuals and legal entities.
- Any city hall seeks to reduce the number of cars in the city, because the roads are not intended for such a number of private transport. If we do not want to stand in a permanent cork, we must reduce the number of vehicles.
- Money is a very intimate thing. If the bank to whom you have entrusted this intimate information about yourself suddenly begins to push you through advertising - this immediately causes rejection and leads to reputational losses in the eyes of customers.
- There is a feeling that Silicon Valley is an overheated bubble. Billions are invested there, but with very low efficiency.
- There are a huge number of assets that are underutilized - empty buildings, cars that are idle on the streets. Even a set of plumbing tools, which every man buys at least once in his life, on average, is used only 8 minutes a year.
