The other day we officially announced the release of new monochrome laser printers of the i SENSYS line, intended for small offices. They were a continuation of the i SENSYS MF5XX, i SENSYS MF4XX and i SENSYS LBP2XX series, but at the same time forming independent model series MF52X, MF42X and LBP21X.
At first glance, a change in the pair of numbers in the designation of the model does not indicate any revolutionary equipment. But this is only at first glance. In its characteristics, the new models are significantly superior to their predecessors. They are able to meet the needs of even large and medium-sized businesses and can be used in large enterprises with large print volumes. But more about everything.
New solutions
Consider the common features of this year's new i-SENSYS. Compared with the devices of the previous series, the novelties have a number of advantages both in technical characteristics and economy, and in functionality. In particular, these devices provide support for mobile and cloud printing, the ability to work as part of a managed fleet of printing devices, and integration into electronic document management systems. The latter is particularly important for working in the digital office environment and distinguishes new products from the models of the previous generation of this class. Major changes have occurred in the hardware, directly affecting printing. First of all, due to the appearance in the design of additional exciting rollers, significantly increased the speed of duplex printing. Compared with the printers of the previous series, it increased by an average of one and a half times, and for the MF42X series this parameter increased 1.8 times as compared with the MF41X. The speed of double-sided monochrome scanning has increased even more. For the MFU series MF52X and MF42X, it has increased more than 5 times, from 13 to 67 pages per minute.
Another revolutionary change has touched cartridges. They reorganized the internal space, due to which they managed to increase the amount of loaded toner. As a result, the volume of printing on one cartridge has increased by about a third. This is true for both standard cartridges and high-capacity cartridges.
We developed new i-SENSYS model lines, focusing on three different segments, in order to meet the needs of the main users in monochrome printing. Consider each lineup separately.
I-SENSYS LBP21X Series
This model range includes high-speed black-and-white duplex printers LPB212dw, LBP214dw and LBP215x. They are intended for the SO / HO segment. Model LPB212 comes in a budget version, but it has impressive characteristics. With one-sided printing, the printer prints up to 33 sheets per minute with a resolution of 1200x1200 dpi. The speed of two-sided printing compared with the similar model of the previous LPB251dw series increased significantly, up to 26.4 ppm against 16 ppm.
Much attention is paid to the intellectual component. The firmware is compatible with the AirPrint and Mopria platforms for working with mobile devices on IOS and Android. The printer has 1 GB of internal memory.
In the LBP214dw and LBP215x versions, single-sided printing speed is already 38 ppm, and double-sided speed is 30.3 ppm, against 33 ppm and 16.8 ppm for the same previous series. They provide the function of secure printing from mobile devices by PIN-code. On the model LBP215x installed a large color touch screen. Advanced software has a library of applications for the convenience of working with the device. The Universal Login Manager and uniFLOW functions are built into this model.
In previous reviews, we have already talked about the uniFLOW integrated solution that provides data protection, which can be part of an MPS or used independently. With it, administrators can control access to the device, manage permissions and ensure the confidentiality of documents on multiple devices connected to the network. UniFLOW also keeps statistics on the use of the printing device by users and determines the cost of prints before the start of the printing process itself. In this case, the cost of these prints on each of the printing devices can be calculated and a recommendation is issued as to which of the printers is better to use so that the price is minimal.
I-SENSYS MF42X Series
Printers of the MF42X series are multipurpose devices of the monochrome press. They are designed for small and medium businesses. The model range includes the MF426dw, MF428x and MF429x. All are equipped with a large color touch screen. The MF426dw MFP is implemented in a budget version of 3 in 1. The MF428x and MF429x devices have advanced functionality and work using the 4 to 1 formula. They include the uniFLOW and Universal Login Manager functions by default.
A distinctive feature of the MF42X and MF52X series is that duplex scanning and copying is performed in one pass. At the same time, the scanned image can be immediately sent to the specified email.
I-SENSYS MF52X Series
This series is represented by models MF522x and MF525x. They have single-sided print speeds of up to 43 ppm and duplex 34.4 ppm. Such characteristics fully meet the needs of medium and large businesses. The built-in uniFLOW and Universal Login Manager functions facilitate the integration of the MFP into the enterprise infrastructure.
The use of new cartridges in the i-SENSYS MF52X series of models has significantly increased the print life. If the standard cartridge in the MFP in the MF51X series was enough for 6,000 prints, then the new cartridges are designed for 10,000 prints. Up to 20,000 prints can be obtained on a new high-capacity cartridge.
The combination of differences from the previous models allows them to be considered revolutionary. This mainly concerns the hardware solutions and software included in the standard option, which ensure communication with other devices and the safety of work information. The demand for these functions is dictated by the wide distribution of the integrated MPS system. Also, by some parameters of performance, new devices are many times different from their predecessors, which takes them to a new level.
