At the end of May (28 - 29), the PVS-Studio team visited the exhibition “Russian Internet Technologies 2018” as a participant and sponsor. RIT is a large-scale festival for Internet developers and simply not indifferent people. The event took place in the Skolkovo Campus (Moscow School of Management). In this article I will share my feelings from visiting the exhibition.
The first thing that struck when approaching Campus was the architecture of the building. Or buildings, at once somehow you will not understand.Actually, the exhibition area was in the "puck" under the overhanging cubic structures of the upper part. The washer itself is about three floors of metal, glass and concrete, with a fancy interior layout of premises, transitions and galleries. Immediately, without pondering, I want to praise the organizers of the
event for the overall reasonableness and attention to detail. Even when boarding buses (the transfer was from Park Pobedy metro station and Salyut hotel), we were given beautiful reminders with tips for quick check-in, lunch options (there were several to choose from) and other useful information. In general, the volume and quality of the “handouts” were exhaustive. Multi-page badges contained all the most necessary things: an exhibition scheme, a timetable of reports, options for transfer back and forth, contacts of the organizers, etc. For a more detailed acquaintance with the conference program, voluminous information brochures were issued. I also want to mention a convenient online support (chat rooms and bots in messengers, groups in social networks). And finally, business cards! I can not give many examples of conferences where business cards are made for each participant. Guys, this is great! There was also no shortage of “standard joys” of any exhibition: notebooks, pens, etc. Coffee, cookies and fruit were available in numerous snack areas, and on the evening of the first day, there was a lot of FREE BEER (and cider). But the most important thing is lively informal communication with like-minded people.
So I want to say that this line to our exhibition booth, but no. This is behind him - a favorite drink of programmers. In the intervals between
numerous reports and meetings, visitors actively explored the area, visited stands, communicated with company representatives and other visitors, participated in contests.
Each participant (the company) organized a special “movement” at its stand.Someone prepared intellectual tasks-tests, at some stands visitors were required to demonstrate agility or accuracy (darts), other participants used high technologies - online games, etc. We gave the wish to the task of finding errors in a small fragment of the source code Chromium.
Guessing the riddle (an error in the return blocks: a comparison of the month number and the number of days in the month) received various prizes: magnets, chocolates, a set of statuses for the desktop.A detailed description of this error is given in the article
on February 31 .
Also on the badges of visitors, we put a seal unicorn and stickers. Stickers were issued to all participants (companies) to encourage the most active and creative visitors. Then the organizers gave out prizes for these stickers: books, mugs, sweatshirts, etc. And among the most active, a superprize was played - a virtual reality helmet.
Badge active visitor. The exhibition was rather tense for us, but interesting. Due to the active work at the stand, it was not possible to visit all the reports of interest. Well, that later it will be possible to see everything in the record. A
report was also prepared from our team - Sergey Vasiliev spoke about the benefits of static analysis for improving the quality of the code. After the report, at the mitap, Sergey demonstrated practical techniques for using the PVS-Studio analyzer.
I note a certain interest of visitors to the topic of static analysis. Often asked questions about plans to add support for languages JavaScript, PHP, Go to our analyzer. At the moment we are busy with the active revision of the analyzer for Java. What are we going to do next - have not yet decided on 100%. Follow our articles, we will definitely talk.
Also, many were interested in the internal mechanisms of our
analyzer . For example, how the error in the Chromium code from our riddle will be found.
Some visitors were surprised by the support of the C # language. And this is despite the fact that the analyzer for C # has been in PVS-Studio for more than three years. Probably, we need to more actively acquaint the world with our developments.
Time in Skolkovo flew by quickly. At the end of the second day we were already a bit tired of work and impressions. It's time to get home. While waiting for the bus, you could relax on comfortable sofas.
Well deserved rest.In conclusion, I want to say that RIT is a really cool festival, creating its own unique atmosphere. Each participant and visitor could find here something interesting and useful for himself. Thanks again to the organizers. We liked it, see you at RIT ++ 2019!
