Batteries, GigaFactory, Northvolt and Siemens. Outsider t

Quite unnoticed by popular news, the signing of one very curious agreement took place.

The Swedish start-up Northvolt and the German corporation Siemens on Friday, May 25, signed a partnership agreement. According to him, the Munich concern becomes one of the investors and supplier of automation solutions, production process management and cloud environment for a Swedish company.

The goal of the startup is to build in Sweden the largest factory in Europe for the production of lithium-ion cells and ready-made rechargeable batteries based on them for the needs of the automotive industry.

Pilot production start is planned for the end of 2019. Full commissioning is scheduled for 2020, with further reaching full design capacity by 2022.

A number of startup investors already include ABB, Scania, Vattenfall and Vestas. Production will be the first fully European project for the production of batteries for electric vehicles in the Old World.

As it is not difficult to notice, Siemens continues to systematically increase its experience in the fields of Industry 4.0 , build both software and technologically completely ready-made production solutions - and develops its proposals for the supply of production facilities for the electromotive industry .

The special piquancy and charm of this news is added by the fact that the co-founders and leaders of the startup Peter Carlsson and Paolo Cerruti have long been top managers of the well-known company Tesla Inc.
