35 teams reached the final of the largest Russian accelerator out of 3,500 startups. And seven of them were chosen yesterday, who fought for prizes of 8, 5 and 3 million rubles. Although more important for them was the opportunity to speak to investors and accelerator partners, including AirBus and Michelin.

This year, the GenerationS accelerator finals the project of augmented reality for imposing special effects during the shooting of the ViewGA film, using the technology of which they filmed Time of the First and Crew, the genetic platform for identifying the likelihood of cancer yRisk, which explores dozens of times more probabilities, IRway night vision system, RollTech platform for tracking the work of every detail and every product in the enterprise. Only seven projects struggled for the main prizes of 8, 5 and 3 million rubles. They were received by the projects IRway, Hydraulic Packer and VR Concept, but we will tell about all seven teams that performed on the main stage of the final.



ViewGA


The ViewGA filmed “Crew”, “Time First”, “Movement Up”, “He is a Dragon” and “Partner” films with the hardware and software complex of virtual and augmented reality. “Crew” and “Time of the First” later received the Golden Eagle award for the best special effects. ViewGA is a development by CGF.

Shooting movies with a lot of computer graphics are complex, the scenes require a lot of follow-up work. At the site, the director and the entire crew see only the green background. ViewGA in real time complements frames with computer graphics and works in two modes: augmented reality and virtual camera.

The founder said that in 2 months about 20% of the movie “Crew” was shot by him along with director Nikolai Lebedev. Filming took place in the studio CGFactory, where there is an R & D laboratory. The 3 × 5 meter room is equipped with a virtual camera: on the walls and the ceiling there are markers that help the ViewGA virtual camera to orient in space. The camera itself consists of a riga (frame), similar to a movie camera, and sensors that track its position with the help of markers. The movement data is transmitted to a three-dimensional editor with a pre-loaded scene, such as an airplane taking off from a burning airfield. The shooting of the film “Time of the First” took place together with the actors in the black room. The background can be any, but this color was chosen to make it easier to shoot cosmic scenes. The system immediately on the site complemented the frames with computer graphics. In real time, the background was replaced with photo-realistic computer graphics, which was displayed at the operator and director and which the actors could see. This made it possible to avoid compositional errors, errors with synchronization and light.

According to the developers, the project has no Russian analogues, and foreign ones are notable for their high cost.

The device successfully works in the construction field. The startup received a grant from Microsoft of 120 thousand dollars for development in the Azure cloud and reached 500 thousand dollars by 2017.

Competitors - game engines and solutions for virtual prototyping. The developers of VR Concept believe that their competitive advantage is the simplicity of the user interface. The founders of the company have more than 10 years of experience in the virtual reality market, mainly in solving industrial problems.

By 2020, they consider their achievable market volume at $ 16 million, and they predict an estimate of the company's value at $ 100 million after three years.



Rolltech


The main problem in production is to monitor the performance of products when ordering and voicing warranty obligations by the supplier. Mortality in the United States from breast cancer is significantly lower than in Russia, including due to a higher rate of detection of the disease at an early stage.

Risk factors include not only bad ecology and unhealthy lifestyle, but also genetics. A genetic test for cancer risks is the main focus of yRisk. The company analyzes 42 genes, family history and makes personal recommendations.

Now the company plans to refine the product to a “box solution” available in any store and develop work with control systems for unmanned vehicles. The project leader believes that in addition to lidars and well-developed maps of the area, drones need a high-quality video signal. Thermal cameras have low detailing and “do not see” objects with ambient temperature, IR cameras are “blind” from oncoming headlights, and the IRway solution is free from these disadvantages.
