Headquarters of crypto-anarchists and hookah for Bitcoins: a cryptocurrency guide to Prague



Prague is known in the world not only for its beer and Charles Bridge, but also for the fact that it is one of the most friendly cities in the world for cryptocurrency. For bitcoins, you can buy anything from coffee to a car. And here is the headquarters of crypto-anarchists and cafes, which does not accept ordinary money.

On the eve of our conference in Prague , which will be devoted to bitcoin and blockchain, we decided to compile for you a guide to Prague cryptographic systems. We definitely will visit a couple of places when we arrive in the Czech Republic for the event.

Let's start on a little pretentious note. In the Czech Republic, many cafes and restaurants accept bitcoins, but the largest and most luxurious of them is U Maliru. The establishment has been operating since 1543, but at the same time it keeps up with the times: three years ago, Bitcoin payment was introduced here. The place is famous for its luxurious interior, excellent cuisine with a large selection of national dishes and excellent service. At the beginning of the 20th century, U Maliru became a favorite place of leisure for artists - it was from those times that frescoes remained on the walls.

If you want to have a better time for drinks, visit Bar No. 7. This is a cozy establishment with the atmosphere of a small rock club, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee after a walk along the Vltava Embankment. Many say that in the bar you can meet interlocutors from around the world: probably, guests of the Czech Republic are attracted by the opportunity to pay here with international currency.

In the center of Prague there is a unique place: Parallel Polis. This is a former factory that members of the Czech art group Ztohoven rented a few years ago. There they created the Institute of Crypto Anarchy - a space for hackers and developers. Also in the building of the Polis there is a coworking, a conference room, a 3D printing workshop and a cafe.

Parallel Polis became the center of attraction for geeks and creative people. Among his visitors are many well-known IT entrepreneurs, crypto-anarchists (advocates for the protection of personal information), “ethical hackers”, developers of blockchain projects, programmers and artists. Interesting events are regularly held here, from workshops on 3D printing to cyber security congresses.

For participation in the event, renting a place in coworking and for coffee at a local Bitcoin Coffee you can pay only with cryptocurrency: Bitcoins or lightcoins. In most cases, the price is free, because all transactions on the wallet of the Policy are legally registered as donations. Parallel Polis is a unique place, a zone free from traditional money. And if you have not stocked an electronic wallet, you can exchange money for bitcoins right on the spot, in a nice yellow cryptomat. It is impossible to pass by Parallel Polis, because its coal-black facade stands out clearly among other buildings on the street.

This place is one of the few in the world where you can learn cryptography, E-Government and various government services on the blockchain. From July to August, the Cevro Institute operates a summer school with educational courses on various subjects. Among them is “Innovation and Technology”, which includes the topics “Problems of protecting cyberspace”, “Cryptography and cyber security”, “Money, banking and modern technologies”.

If you want to get a certified technology education, you may want to visit the Cevro Institute. Moreover, it is located in a beautiful old building at an address not far from the Galerie Domuncula museum. Shopping: Alza hypermarket in Holesovice

The Czech electronics store Alza was one of the first major retail chains accepting bitcoins. Most of the purchases in this company are done through the site, but there are also land shops, they are also points of issue. One of the largest hypermarkets of the brand is Alza in Holesovice (Jateční 33). Here you can pick up a new smartphone, laptop or any accessories you need to travel, and pay for them with cryptocurrency. In the Czech Republic, Alza is a Tesla dealer, and the legendary car can also be bought for bitcoins.

In the building on Jateční 33 there is a branded coffee shop Alza Cafe, which serves freshly brewed coffee from local roasters.

After shopping, you can look at the nearby Game On (video game museum) or the cultural center Rock Opera.
